City Administration - Danielle Felts

Thank you for making it easy for the Chamber and City to partner together in so many efforts.  The more we work together the more the entire community benefits. Thanks for everything.

Tammy Gazzola, Weatherford Chamber of Commerce

Thank you so much for you response to my email. Also I would like to say that I am very proud to be a part of the Parker County (Weatherford) community. I have lived here all my life (53 years) and I know that there have been communities that have had a lot worse things happen, but the way you all came together and helped all of us out and kept us up to date on everything was just awesome!!!

Thank you,
Millie Latham, Citizen

Just a note to let you and all the others know  how proud I am of each and every participant in the recent serious water situation. I was proud to have been a part of the organization for so many years. I have heard so many compliments regarding the City's response from friends and citizens.

Take care,
Barbara Kerr, Citizen and Former City of Weatherford Employee

Please pass on to everyone involved a "well done" for their handling of the city water crisis.

Thanks to all. Our water flow never stopped but the pressure was very low but we didn't have to get drinking water from the city. We had enough bottled water on hand for drinking and we boiled for cooking.

Thanks,
Billy Bruce, Citizen

I know you are probably still very busy (and tired) so I will keep this short.  As a resident of Weatherford (8 ½ years), and a colleague in local government, I would just like to express how proud and impressed I am with the way you and your staff addressed the issues at hand while working diligently to keep the public informed.  Please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation to you and your City staff, contractors, volunteers and others who labored so very hard (and continue to do so) under difficult conditions.

Sincerely,
Steve Polasek, City of Keller

Thanks for the quick response yesterday afternoon. The water from the fire tanker saved our chiller and prevented the evacuation of all our patients. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The second story is about Weatherford Public Library, located in a town some 35 miles west of Fort Worth. In the throes of an oppressive heat wave, Weatherford’s 27,000 citizens have endured a boil-water alert since August 1 because of a broken connection to a primary water-storage well. As a result, restaurants and daycare centers closed and even surgeries were suspended—but the public library kept running, leading MLS candidate Courtney Butler to marvel at “the tremendous service libraries provide.” Taking to heart the marketing lessons she is learning at the University of North Texas library school in Denton, she observed, “Not only are they conducting normal programs, they are even passing out bottled water to all citizens!” She added, “I often worry that people take libraries for granted, and therefore won’t protest when services are limited or discontinued.”

I wanted to say that I have always been proud to have lived in Weatherford for the past 24 years, and this latest "crisis" has proven this is a great city. Everyone came together to make the restoration of water as quickly as possibly, and the emergency response of everyone was amazing. I want to thank you and the entire City staff for their response to this problem.  While it was inconvenient for most, the response prevented it from being as dangerous as it could have been.

I toured the Water Plant Facilities today to look at the damage and repairs to the Weatherford Water Treatment Plant. I would like to take this opportunity to thank ACM Sharon Hayes and the dedicated people involved in the emergency repairs to the Water Treatment Plant. Being in the Utility Business for over 45 years and being involved in these kinds of emergency activities, it was no small task to make the repairs to the Water Plant in the time they did. It is always refreshing to see the City's dedicated employees go above and beyond in order to provide Water to the Citizens of Weatherford. They did a truly incredible job in a very short time frame and I would like to personally congratulate everyone. I can't say enough about their dedication to their jobs. There are many people that worked behind the scenes that should also be recognized. They are the unsung employees that will always receive my many thanks also.

I would like to send a very very large THANK YOU to the city workers who have been going above and beyond their duties to take care of our Water Disaster.  Everyone in this city should know what they are doing to take care of all of us.  Water is the most precious resource we have.  Daily life cannot exist without it.  We are all very spoiled in our lives of instant gratification and communication.  We need to remember who keeps it all flowing.  I understand the whole staff at the city has been working long hours to correct this emergency.  Please foward this overdue thank you message to everyone who has been working so hard.

Thank you again,
Joan Stokes, Citizen

Weatherford Police Department - Wendy Field

I am sending this e-mail to you because your name has been on the information that has been sent out about the water crisis. I wish to express my appreciation to all the employees of the water department, police department, fire department and all the rest of the many people who had a hand in helping the people of Weatherford through this experience. The work done by all of you made a big difference.

Thank you, again!

I am highly impressed with the city's handling of our current water situation. Jerry Blaisdell made sure city council/utility board members were where they needed to be to take quick action. The water distribution sites are flowing well, even if the water lines cannot. Keep up the good work and kudos to all city workers for their hard efforts.

I just wanted to tell you what friendly, courteous help I got down at First Monday just now. I went down to see if I could get some water and, not only did I get quite a bit of water, but the people were so friendly it was just amazing. I compliment the City on that. There were several police officers down there and several other people that I didn't know who they were. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

City Administration - Malinda Nowell, Laura Simonds
Police Department - David Foreman

The Weatherford Democrat participated in the “1 for All” campaign, which aims to build public support and understanding for the First Amendment. Reporters were sent to various government agencies to make open records requests and then graded the agencies on their response. After the process was completed, a story appeared in the Weatherford Democrat outlining the reporters’ experience with each agency. The report indicated that the City of Weatherford excelled in its process of handling open records requests. The article was complimentary of Malinda Nowell, David Foreman, and Laura Simonds, and reflected great credit on the City of Weatherford.

Weatherford Electric - John Young, Kevin King, and Josh Rich

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Weatherford Electric employees stopped to assist a citizen extinguish a car fire. The woman was traveling down the interstate when some items blew off of a truck in front of her. They were caught underneath her car, which caused it to catch on fire. The citizen was very appreciative of their help and phoned the city to compliment the WE employees.

Weatherford Police Department - Officer Tim Trevino

On Saturday, May 15, a citizen observed Officer Trevino helping someone on the side of I-20 by changing a tire. The citizen called the station and commented, "You don't see that anymore and it was nice to see our City still helping out."

Weatherford Fire Department - Lt. Trinque, FF Crow, FF Anderson

I accidentally locked my 4-year-old twin grandchildren in my daughter's van.

The children could not get out of their car seats to unlock the door; although, my grandson was able to reach the vent latch so I could open the small window. I am not usually a wreck, but as the minutes passed and I had no tool to break a window, I became more apprehensive.

The men of the Unit, I did not get their names or unit number, were able to unlock the van without the damage I was about to impart. They were quite supportive and did a quick assessment of the children to make sure they were OK -- yes; I got them cold drinks and burgers.

I will never again lay the keys inside the car while securing the children in their car seats.

Again, thank you so much for your help and support.

Thank you so much for sending the City employees out to deliver Meals on Wheels this morning. It was an amazing site to see all the trucks as they left the center and headed out on the delivery routes. As President of the Committee on Aging Board, please convey my appreciation to each of them.
