The Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the Fourth Annual Industrial/Manufacturer Appreciation Luncheon on February 4, 2009 at the Doss Heritage & Culture Center. This event recognizes the Industrial/Manufacturer “Business of the Year” in 3 employment size categories (Large: JRJ Construction, Inc; Medium: Greenwood Farms; and Small: Jess Hall’s Seasoned Salt Co.) for their outstanding growth achievements, community involvement, unique product innovation/marketing and outstanding employment practices. The awards where presented by Jan Barton, President of the Board, Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc., John Hinton, Chairman of the Board, Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Gazzola, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Dennis Clayton, Executive Director of WEDA.

The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Eric Fox, Sr. Director Government Relations - Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and Board of Trustees Member to the North TX Regional Center of Innovation & Commercialization to the Office of the Governor’s “Emerging Technology Fund” (ETF) and was introduced by Ms. Jan Barton, President of the Board, Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc.
In addition to the three “Business of the Year” awards, the “BRE Volunteer of the Year” award was presented to Ms. Claudia Bowden, Account Manager of Workforce Solutions of N. Central Texas for her outstanding efforts to recognize and visit the existing businesses in our Industrial//Manufacturing community. The BRE (Business Retention and Expansion) committee meets monthly and routinely visits existing businesses to express appreciation and to recognize them for being the foundation of the Weatherford economy.
