The Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the Third Annual Industrial/Manufacturer Appreciation Luncheon on February 6, 2008 at the Doss Heritage & Culture Center. This event recognizes the Industrial/Manufacturer "Business of the Year" in 3 employment size categories (Large, Medium and Small) for their outstanding growth achievements, community involvement, unique product innovation/marketing and outstanding employment practices. The awards were presented by Dennis Clayton, Executive Director of WEDA, Ronnie Warren, President of the Weatherford Economic Development Board of Directors and Randy Cox, Chairman of the Board Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.

The luncheon and programs where provided by generous community sponsors including: Main Event Sponsors: American State Bank and Fort Worth Community Credit Union; Program Sponsors: The Bank of Weatherford, First National Bank, Plains Capital Bank, Parker County TODAY, and Century 21 Judge Fite Co-Weatherford, Ashley Conlon, GRI Branch Manager; and the Event Sponsors: Jamie Bodiford, Realtor, GRI ADR- Century 21 Judge Fite Co., Weatherford Municipal Utility System, Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.

The Keynote Speaker was the Honorable Phil King, Texas State Representative, Weatherford and was introduced by Randy Cox, Chairman of Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the three "Business of the Year" awards, the "BRE Volunteer of the Year" award was presented to Julie Lundy, District Manager of the N Texas Workforce for her outstanding efforts to recognize and visit the existing businesses in our Industrial/Manufacturing community. The BRE (Business Retention and Expansion) committee meets monthly and routinely visits existing businesses in the area to express appreciation and recognize them for being a part of the Weatherford business community.
