History of Weatherford Greenwood Cemetery
City Greenwood Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Parker
County. Once known as “the Burial Grounds,” the cemetery has been in use
for about 150 years.
Oldest Recorded Grave
The oldest recorded grave is dated 1859. The inscription reads:
"A.E. Johnson, wife of R.J. Shelton, Born in Yadkin County, North Carolina June 20, 1837, age 22 years.”
The cemetery also has soldiers buried from the War for Texas Independence, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.

Oliver Loving and Bose Ikard of the Goodnight-Loving Trail.
Douglas Chandor, the famous artist who built Chandor Gardens.
Mary Martin, a Broadway actress best known for her role as Peter Pan.
Governor Samuel T. Lanham, the last Civil War veteran elected as a Texas Governor.
