WPD Traffic Unit
The year 2002 demonstrated an alarming increase in motor vehicle accidents in Weatherford. On April 28, 2003 Chief Jerry Blaisdell signed orders creating a separate and mostly independent unit comprised of two motor vehicle traffic specialists. Chief Blaisdell ordered the unit to curtail accidents. The increase in traffic enforcement has had a direct result in lowering the number of accidents seen in Weatherford.
Dedication and professionalism are trademarks of this unit. The willingness to take on the daunting task of traffic law enforcement day after day, riding motorcycles in the scorching heat or on frigid winter mornings, is a tribute to the dedication of this unit.
