General Plan

The City of Weatherford invites you to help create a new General Plan for our community’s future. Your ideas and suggestions are important to our future quality of life and economic vitality. Please join us at a Community Open House and get involved in making Weatherford the place where you want to live, work and play now and in the future.

What is the General Plan?

The City of Weatherford General Plan will describe the vision of the future our residents, property owners, business leaders and stakeholders want to achieve. It will serve as the "umbrella" plan that coordinates facility-specific plans. The General Plan will provide policy direction to be used by City Council and staff in making decisions.

How can citizens get involved?

Weatherford residents, property owners and anyone interested in Weatherford’s future should participate in this initiative. Your ideas are needed – help shape your community’s future!

A set of community open house sessions will begin the public dialogue to create this General Plan. A total of seven (7) sessions will be offered at convenient locations across the city. They are open to anyone who chooses to come.

The Open House sessions will be conducted in an informal format, with the use of interactive tools as well as hands-on approaches. Presentations at the beginning of each session will introduce the project and provide information about background research, the overall process and its expected results. A variety of activities will give participants many choices about how to share their ideas for Weatherford; the open house format means that participants can come whenever they want and stay as long as they choose. Come join your friends and neighbors and help create Weatherford’s best possible future!

Other options for involvement

Interested individuals and organizations will have additional ways to participate in creating Weatherford’s new General Plan. Online tools will include brief surveys and interactive dialogue with other community members. Interested individuals may apply to serve on the Advisory Committee, which will work with City staff and consultants on the details of the new plan. As the process continues, additional workshops will be held.
