Outside Funding Requests

About Outside Funding Requests
During the annual budget process, the City of Weatherford provides local organizations the opportunity to request funding for specific purposes. There are two separate sources from which your organization can request funds: General Fund and Hotel Occupancy Tax.

Read below to find out about the different funding sources and how to apply for funding.

All requests must be received by July 15. Organizations requesting funds will be invited to give a short (10 minute maximum) presentation to the City Council during the budget process to discuss their request. All funding decisions are made by the City Council and are subject to availability of funds.

Agencies which have received funds are required to submit a Post Funding Report.
General Fund Requests
Unlike Hotel Occupancy Tax dollars, the City has more flexibility in the granting of General Fund revenue for outside agencies. However, requests are generally considered for service agencies (whether for- or non-profit) that provide needed services to our local community.

To request funds from General Fund Revenue, please review the policy document linked below, then fill out the application form. You may return the application by email, regular mail, or by dropping it off at City Hall before July 15.

Hotel Occupancy Tax Requests
The use of Hotel Occupancy Tax dollars are restricted per the Texas Tax Code, Chapter 351 (please read this link before applying). Among a few other things, these funds are generally restricted to activities which promote tourism, bringing in visitors from outside of Weatherford to stay in our local hotels and motels, and for the promotion of the arts.

To request funds from Hotel Occupancy Taxes, please review the policy document linked below, then fill out the application form. You may return the application by email, regular mail, or by dropping it off at City Hall before July 15.
